WWI wall-small

This World War I Memorial is painted on the side of the old hardware store in downtown Mansfield, at the corner of Rte. 6 and Old Rte. 15 on Main Street.  The Memorial consists of 206 names of area veterans on what Bruce Dart calls, “The Wall of Honor.”  Bruce chaired the project to restore it twice….most recently in 2008 on the 90th Anniversary of the armistice of WWI. It is believed to have been first put there sometime around 1928, by the building's owner, Harold Strait,  a former Commander of Austin-Cox Post 478 American Legion, ans whose name is also on the wall.
